Sculptra Treatment

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable that helps progressively replace lost collagen. The loss of collagen as we age is one of the primary causes of facial lines and wrinkles. Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid based filler that is considered to be semi-permanent, stimulating collagen production to restore your skin’s deeper structure and volume. Once collagen production is restarted, that collagen helps soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles by revitalizing your skin.

How Does Sculptra Work?

Sculptra treatments are different than other liquid and gel fillers, such as hyaluronic based fillers, because they increase collagen production, rather than just adding volume by pushing the skin outward.

Sculptra is injected into the face to treat smile lines, marionette lines (lines at the corner of the mouth) and generalized facial volume loss. The body’s own immune system will deposit collagen as a result of the stimulation from the Sculptra. This stimulation can often be enhanced by combining with a hyaluronic based filler or Platelet Rich Plasma injection.

How Long Does Sculptra Last?

Sculptra results can last up to two years. Your results will appear gradually over the time of the treatment plan, typically two or three injections over the course of three to six months. Sculptra is different than other fillers because the improvements will be gradual instead of instant, making it less detectable by others. Get natural-looking enhancement without the worry of someone realizing you had “work done”.

Who can Benefit from Sculptra?

Sculptra treatments are best for patients with a healthy immune system, as successful treatments require the body to deposit collagen, looking to improve their moderate to severe folds and wrinkles. Sculptra is also great for patients that want a longer lasting treatment than traditional dermal fillers.
Sculptra should not be used by patients allergic to any ingredient of the product or have a history of keloid formation or sensitive to hypertrophic scarring.

What are the Side Effects of Sculptra?

Like many fillers, patients may experience some minor side effects such as redness, swelling, pain at the injection site, bruising, bleeding and itching bumps. While these side effects are minor, they usually resolve within a few hours to a few days.
